Welcome to My Network Neutrality Web Page

Network Neutrality is a very important topic for anyone who uses the internet, weather you only check email or spend lots of time on the internet for what ever reason. As someone who's career depends on the Internet I am a strong supporter of Network Neitrality.

What is "network neutrality"?

Network neutrality is the principle that Internet users should be able to access any legal web content they choose without restrictions or limitations set by their Internet Service Provider.

For example, say you had internet service tough MSN, and you wanted to use Google to search for something, but hold on, when you try to go to Goolge.com you get a message saying "This site is not a preferred partner, please use MSN search for all your Searching needs." Does this sound far fetched, well trust me this is exactly what you would see if the big Dinosaur corporations get their way, like AT&T for example. AT&T has already stated that they think companies like Google and Vonage should pay them for letting their customers use "AT&T pipes" to access their services. How would you like it if the people you are paying for internet access get to choose which web sites you can visit.

As a professional Web Developer Network Neutrality is an important issue, suppose I have an idea for a new website, perhaps the next MySpace or Amazon. I have the idea and skills to build the website/application, I get the hosting I need and maybe even a little advertising. But hold on, I don't have enough money to pay AT&T, Verizon and all the other large ISPs out there to be on their "Preferred Partner" list so now no one can access my website, even though it is on the same internet that every other website is one. If Network Neutrality is not protected and enforced then true innovation will be the biggest casualty, alonge side the rights of all those who can no longer access the legal websites they want to.
